Shocking Recording Reveals Moment Police Are Stabbed in Surprise Attack
One senior officer that leaped to the aid of a colleague that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a blade to the throat of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman knifed," the officer was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashcam video shared by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a head covered, run up to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade extended.
He ran into the policeman who tripped and dropped to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the pavement although being repeatedly struck with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a open target, ending the confrontation to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need assistance on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."

The department reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to control his colleague's hemorrhaging before medical personnel reached the scene.
This most recent recognition arrives after the three officers were granted organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional officer association in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in mid-2024.
"The actions of all three officers ultimately rescued one another and ensured no bystanders endured any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by the department.
